Do Not Drink a Glowstick! ⚠️

Hola amigos, cómo están? Espero que estén muy bien.

This week has been a rollercoaster with lots of trainings and interviews. So that's pretty wild. Also my companion is getting ready to go home in 2 weeks which makes me sooooooooooooo very sad! But it's okay, I'll get over it eventually.

We also had lots of fun this we playing glow in the dark volleyball and drawing with chalk. My zone is way fun and with it being summer we can do all sorts of cool activities. So that's where the title of this email comes from is because I had to really convince some elders that even if Glowstick juice made their mouths glow, it was still really bad for them. So don't drink Glowsticks, even if it seems cool. 😂

A HUUUUUUUUGE milagro this week is that our friends Manuel and Javier came to church yesterday and that they were still able to find a ride! So Saturday night their apartment of 5 told us that they weren't going to be able to come to church and we were so bummed about that. And so we called the members that were giving them a ride and told them thank you but they weren't going to be able to come to church anymore. And then Sunday morning we get a text from Javier that he can come to church and we're like, oh my goodness, that's awesome! We scramble to get a hold of these members and then race to their apartment, knock on the door and get Javier and Manuel ready to go so that they can make it to church for the first time! And by some miracle, the members are still ready and willing to give them a ride. And so they show up and Manuel is on the fence, Javier is like ready to go, but Manuel isn't sure. I've never had to work so hard to convince someone to come to church or to practically drag them there! But he did it!!!!!! I am so very proud of him. And so that was a super chaotic moment but Javier especially loved church and says that he would like to come again!

But we were reading 3 Nephi 11 with one of our members, Hermana Ochoa and she just really loved that the Savior takes the time to individual let each of the Nephities feel the prints in His hands and in His side, that the Savior's love and care is so individual for each one of us. That if we were the only one the Atonement would have saved, He would have gone through it all anyway. And that I think has been my  favorite part of the mission is watching that change where people can recognize that the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ really is for them, personally and individually. It's for all of us, and infinite and eternal sacrifice, but also, it is a personal one. And that discussion we had with her was just soooooo cool. So I'd definitely encourage all of you to go read 3 Nephi 11 again because it is a bomb chapter.

But I hope everything is going well! Love you all!

First off, I would just like to say that I have never been more sad to not be able to watch movies on a mission than I was this weekend when I could not sit down and watch Independence Day. I am fully aware it's kind of a silly movie about aliens and stuff but I just had a burning desire to watch it AND I COULDN'T! So I hope someone did for me because that would be so incredible. Yesterday for the 4th of July we really didn't do anything because it was just a normal day of pros. Hermana Real invited us over to eat some carne with her and that was a party. And then we took lots of silly pictures with these 4th of July hats she gave us. And then we watched from our apartment balcony the few fireworks that we could see. Mostly we just heard a lot of them but we did get a few really great ones! It has been incredibly hot here! Like we hit 118 one day this week and it was very uncomfortably sticky and gross. There is nothing worse than feeling like you're melting while trying to talk to people on their doorstep. So we've got a couple pics of our companionship trying not to die in the heat. But the milagro this week is that we had a lesson with some new people we found and one of their roommates was baptized in Yakima! So that was pretty cool and he basically convinced his friends to meet with us every day this week that they can. He was straight up like, "this is important and you have time so they can come." So that was pretty funny but super awesome. And Javior just totally changed his mind and was like "sure, you can come back all the time this week, just text us first." What a wild time. We're not quite sure why Miguel isn't coming to church right now but we're going to get him back and hopefully get the rest of his amigos baptized! That would be sooooooo cool! Pero, espero que todo fuera muy bien durante la semana pasada y hablamos luego!!!! Hermana Blackburn
